Write for the role, not every technology

A remote developer vacancy might emphasise APIs, testing, cloud operations or accessibility. Open with a short professional summary supported by real experience in the relevant area. Listing twenty frameworks you have barely touched does not create a stronger application.

Explain what you built

For each relevant position or project, describe the problem, your contribution, the technology used and a meaningful result. If a performance improvement was measured, explain the baseline and method. If not, describe an observable outcome rather than inventing a percentage.

Show collaboration evidence

Distributed teams need people who can communicate without waiting for meetings. Mention code review, documentation, issue tracking and reproducible tests where you actually practised them. A pull request with a clear description may demonstrate collaborative maturity better than a gallery of screenshots.

Curate public repositories

Choose two or three projects that can be understood without downloading a secret environment. Include setup steps, a small architecture explanation, sample data and limitations. Remove private credentials, client information and copied proprietary code.

Keep the document legible

Use consistent dates, role names and clear section headings. Follow any specified file format and verify the exported version opens correctly. A portfolio or professional profile should lead to working pages that match the CV's claims.

Adapt for cross-border work honestly

You may describe experience collaborating asynchronously or working across time zones, but do not claim visa eligibility, local work authorisation or geographic availability you have not verified.

Action: Ask a peer to read your CV for thirty seconds and identify the one problem you are most capable of solving. Rewrite until the answer is clear.
